1. What air regulations does the state of California follow?

• Air Resource Board: The California Environmental Protection Agency http://www.arb.ca.gov/homepage.htm , which houses the Air Resource Board (ARB) Board manages air quality standards. Its goal is to promote and protect public health, welfare and ecological resources through the effective and efficient reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering the effects on the economy of the state.

2. Which state organization manages air pollution regulations?

• Air Division: The Alabama Department of Environmental Management's administers the Air Division. http://www.adem.state.al.us/programs/air/default.cnt.The Air Division has primary jurisdiction over all air emission sources within the State, except those emission sources located within Jefferson County or the City of Huntsville. The Air Pollution Control Programs within these areas are administered by theJefferson County Department of Health (www.jcdh.org) and the City of Huntsville Department of Natural Resources (www.hsvcity.com/NatRes/), respectively.

3. What are the responsibilities of the Air Resource Board?

• Climate Change Program: An initiative to reduce climate change and greenhouse gas emissions http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/cc.htm
• Enforcement: To reduceemissions of air contaminants through the fair, consistent and comprehensive enforcement of air pollution laws, and by providing training and compliance assistance. http://www.arb.ca.gov/enf/enf.htm
• Permitting: This program provides an overview of air quality permitting issues in California http://www.arb.ca.gov/permits/permits.htm
• Community Products Program: To reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds, toxic air contaminants , and greenhouse gases that are emitted from the use of chemically formulated consumer products. http://www.arb.ca.gov/consprod/consprod.htm
