1. What air regulations does the state of Pennsylvania follow?

• The state of Pennsylvania adheres to all federal emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). National emission standards for HAPs, compliance dates and their rules and implementation are found in the following U.S. Environmental Protection Agencylink: http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/eparules.html. Pennsylvania uses the RAPIDS (Regional Air Pollutant Inventory Development System) list which is the Fed HAPs list plus three more chemicals - beryllium, fluorides and hydrogen sulfide. The Bureau is responsible for safeguarding the health of Pennsylvanians by achieving the goals of the federal Clean Air Act and the Pennsylvania Air Pollution Control Act. The bureau develops air quality regulations, conducts meteorological tracking and air quality modeling studies and reviews; develops transportation control measures and other mobile source programs.
