1. What air regulations does the state of West Virginia follow?

  • The state of West Virginia adheres to all federal emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). National emission standards for HAPs, compliance dates and their rules and implementation are found in the following U.S. Environmental Protection Agency link: http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/eparules.html. In addition to implementing federal air toxics programs , the Division of Air Quality addresses HAP emissions from stationary sources in its minor source permitting program, and in an air toxics regulation of limited scope, as well as toxic particulates and metals.   • Division of Air Quality. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protectionhttp://www.dep.wv.gov/Pages/default.aspx houses the Division of Air Quality http://www.dep.wv.gov/daq/Pages/default.aspx. This Division implements air quality standards and issues permits which strictly control the construction, modification or relocation of sources of air pollution. The Division of Air Quality also enforces compliance with air quality standards.
