1. What air regulations does the state of Vermont follow?

• The state of Vermont adheres to all federal emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). National emission standards for HAPs, compliance dates and their rules and implementation are found in the following U.S. Environmental Protection Agencylink: http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/eparules.html. The Vermont hazardous air pollution list is for permitting and registration and contains all federal HAPs in addition to Vermont contaminants. 2. Which state organization manages air pollution regulation ?

• Air Pollution Control Division: The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation http://www.anr.state.vt.us/dec/dec.htm houses the Air Pollution Control Division http://www.anr.state.vt.us/air/index.htm. This Division monitors air quality and air pollution sources, proposes regulations to improve existing air quality, ensures compliance with the regulations, and issues permits to control pollution from sources of air contaminants across the state.

3. What are the specific responsibilities of the Air Pollution Division?

• Air Toxics: Provides Information on air toxic sources, health effects, ambient monitoring, reduction efforts and other related information; http://www.anr.state.vt.us/air/AirToxics/index.htm

This list is for both permitting and registration. The list is essentially all of the federal HAP list plus additional Vermont contaminants. Appendix C breaks all the compounds in Appendix B into three categories and gives the emission rate threshold (Action Level) for applicability to the regulation and the actual ambient standard (HAAS).
