1. What air regulations does the state of Wisconsin follow?

  • The state of Wyoming adheres to all federal emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). National emission standards for HAPs, compliance dates and their rules and implementation are found in the following U.S. Environmental Protection Agency link: http://www.epa.gov/ttn/atw/eparules.html. Wyoming uses the federal hazardous air pollutant list for emission inventory.

2. Which state organization manages air pollution regulation?

  • Division of Air Quality: The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality http://deq.state.wy.us/ houses the Division of Air Quality http://deq.state.wy.us/aqd/. Its mission is to monitor Wyoming's air resources and through permitting and inspection programs works to keep the air clean and healthy.

3. What are the specific responsibilities of the Air Management Program?

  • Open Burning and Smoke Management: To set standards and smoke management requirements for the state of Wyoming; http://deq.state.wy.us/aqd/smokemanagement.asp

  • Monitoring Program: To protect, conserve, and enhance the quality of Wyoming's air resource.   • National Events Action Plan: The National Events Action Plan set forth procedures for protecting public health through the development of a Natural Events Action Plan (NEAP) which implements Best Available Control Measures for human-generated particulate emissions in areas where the PM10 standard may be violated due to these uncontrolled natural events; http://deq.state.wy.us/aqd/NEAP.asp
  • Title V Operating Permit Program: Establishes appropriate compliance assurance monitoring on a pollutant-by-pollutant basis for large emission sources with add-on pollution control equipment, and/or establishes periodic monitoring for other regulated pollutants; http://deq.state.wy.us/aqd/NEAP.asp
