TRI Reporting, or Toxic Release Inventory Reporting, is an annual environmental report that the U.S. EPA uses to collect and compile information about the releases and movement of toxic chemicals in the United States.
It takes place every year on July 1st and it has a huge effect on industry.
For each chemical on the TRI toxic chemical list that you are involved with, you must account for your dealings with that chemical. This involves manufacturing, processing or even just general use of the chemical.
Any disposal of waste chemicals at your facility must also be included in your TRI reporting.
Each chemical has a specific reporting threshold. For the majority of chemicals, this threshold is 10,000 lbs (manufactured, processed or used), but there are others that have varying thresholds.
If your company exceeds the reporting threshold for any chemical during the reporting year, you must submit a Form-R report for that chemical.
A separate Form-R report must be completed for each chemical that exceeds the reporting threshold.
Your collection of Form-R reports is compiled and submitted to the EPA as your Toxic Release Inventory Report for the year.
Do you know if your facility is correctly reporting your chemicals? Are you are correctly reporting on all of your sources?
Download our TRI Fact Sheet to discover information about TRI that you may not know and that might be causing you to submit incorrect information to the EPA.
Our TRI reporting module assists the user in preparing the annual Form R reports, and saves 75% of your time versus manual submission.
The module is linked to the data in the ERA Environmental Management Software program, allowing it to automatically generate usage, emissions, hazardous waste totals, vendors and treatment codes. This approach allows reports to be created rapidly for the selected compounds, using typical default entries.
The Form R Reporting Module performs the necessary calculations to generate Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Form R reports, and is approved for electronic submission by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
The preview report is presented as an editable document for review and after approval is saved for submission. If you would like to schedule a demo to see how our TRI module works and how it can help your facility, please click here.
